Telluride Lodging ExperienceStaying in Telluride means you get to wake up in a Mountain paradise. Almost any window you gaze out has magnificent views. That being said, there are still a number of considerations in making a lodging choice. First, you can choose to be in Mountain Village or the Town of Telluride. The two towns are connected by a free 14-minute gondola ride. Mountain Village is a newer community with a “core” that includes restaurants, shops and the base of the ski mountain. The homes in Mountain Village are spread out on larger lots and many are adjacent to ski runs. The town of Telluride is an historic district with many Victorian homes and a fun and funky downtown filled with great restaurants and shops. Being less than a mile from one end to the other, everything is close by. There is also a Galloping Goose bus that loops through town all day. If you are looking for a rental home there are great options on the west side of town in Bachman Village, or more centrally located homes on West Pacific and Depot Avenue. These homes can range from 3 bedrooms to 5 and can be combined with other homes nearby for large parties. Many of the condos are located along the River Trail, which makes it cool and quiet in the evenings, and allows easy access to the gondola if you are skiing. Nothing is more than a few blocks from main street, and strolling through town surrounded by Rocky Mountains is one of the pleasures of being here. There are also a number of hotels and inns to choose from. Montana Placer Inn and Manitou Bed and Breakfast are both comfortable and attractive alternatives centrally located near the gondola.
